Charles Grover, 1842 - 1921

Summary

Charles Grover (1842 - 1921) was an enthusiastic and resourceful amateur astronomer. In 1869 he moved from Chesham, Buckinghamshire, to become an assistant to John Browning FRAS, a renowned nineteenth century telescope and optical instrument manufacturer in London. Charles spent 13 years working for Browning and wrote (in his journal "50 Years") that he became an expert in silvering mirrors.

The overwhelming majority of information gathered and presented in the Charles Grover section of this web site was most generously supplied as follows. The transcriptions, some of which were originally done by John Grover (Great grandson), were checked by Jerry Grover (Great great grandson), then converted to PDF by Ron Ziemiecki 2007 and are all copyright protected by Jerry Grover.
