This is a photo that has always been in the family, and was taken to celebrate what Charles thought was his 70th birthday on 2 March 1910. In fact, he got both the day and the year wrong - his birth certificate records his birth as 7 March 1842. The cake has stars and a moon design on it. The booklet (price 6 pence, now equal to 2 1/2 pence) was produced to herald the arrival of Halley's comet in 1910, and contains a drawing by Charles of the path of the comet over the course of several months.
