The last report, for the year 1920, of the Rousdon Observatory, published in the Monthly Notices of the RAS, thus ending a continuous run of 35 years. As can be seen, a yearly total of the number of observations of the magnitude of some 15 long-period variable stars was recorded, and this total was 14,994 for the year ending December 1920. These observations were all made by the same observer, using the same telescope and in the same location, which lends an astronomically important degree of uniformity to the records. It is probable that Charles made sufficient further observations in 1921 before he died to make the final total greater than 15,000 observations, although this is not documented.
